I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In my more than 22 years of practice I have helped clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, communication and conflict resolution. In 1997 I became a certified domestic violence advocate. I have lead a variety of group sessions including pre-marital, anger management, victims of crime, and self empowerment workshops. EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) has always fascinated me. I became EMDR trained and have seen the effectiveness of this type of therapy. EMDR helps clients resolve and heal from emotionally overwhelming or traumatic experiences. I have a deep passion for what I do. To help individuals overcome any obstacle that may be preventing them from achieving maximum personal satisfaction with their life is a privilege.

Our relationships can enhance our lives, help us grow as individuals and provide support when life is difficult. But let’s face it, relationships are challenging. It brings two separate and different people together. I believe our well-being is profoundly affected by the quality of our relationships. Some of my clients tell me that I get right to the point. My approach is direct and forthright, guiding the client to reach their goals. The heart and emphasis of my work is to help you begin the journey of self- discovery, gain new insights, a greater capacity for self awareness, and finally healing.

I’ve worked with a wide range of challenges when it comes to working with my clients, communication problems are probably the most common. Even the best of relationships take work. It's that work that helps each of us to grow closer together as a couple and/or develop as individuals. When communicating, it is important to send CLEAR messages and be attentive listeners. Learning how to cope and communicate your feelings instead of turning to self destructive behaviors and negative patterns is a large focus of my work. Developing an understanding, and applying solutions to replace distressing thoughts and behaviors, with better self expression & effective coping skills, is essential to the healing process.

Often people want to try EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) because they have found that more traditional therapies haven’t been productive in helping them overcome their fears and depression.  With EMDR we can identify and work toward changing limiting beliefs that keep you stuck.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a remarkably effective therapy approach used to overcome the emotionally painful effects of trauma and a wide range of other emotional conditions. EMDR integrates many of the successful elements of a range of therapeutic approaches that helps people to make lasting changes and to overcome the impact of trauma.
